Michelle McCarthy is an undergraduate student at the University of Rhode Island (URI) working towards a B.S. in Textiles and Fashion Merchandising and Design (TMD) with a focus on apparel studies. She hopes to graduate on time in May 2011 with Honors. With a passion for sewing and design, she works hard to achieve her goals both professionally and personally. She hopes to work as a patternmaker after graduation, but is still very interested in incorporating artistry into a very precise and calculated profession. Currently she is a student member of the American Association of Textile Colorist and Chemists (AATCC), the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals (ASDP), and National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). With a scholarship from the ASDP, Michelle attended a weekend conference in Chicago with an entry into their fashion show. Michelle is very driven and is working on several projects. Primarily, her study of Classic Tailoring will continue through until her final semester.
